Green Shoots Foundation's purpose is to foster Sustainable Development by promoting holistic programmes that combine Economic Development with Food & Agriculture, Education or Medical Aid. By working with local partners, we implement synergistic/multi-purpose programmes to break poverty cycles. The foundation was established in October 2010 and has so far rolled out three major programs in six countries.

Medical Assistance and Medical Education (MAME) in Myanmar, Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan Education Loans and Social Entrepreneurship (ELSE) in India.

This trustee position is based in the UK and related to to our FASE initiative in Cambodia. Green Shoots Foundation launched this initiative in 2012 aiming to engage youth and demonstrate to them that a rural economy can be thriving and help provide for families.

The initiative has been designed according to three stages below:

Stage I: Food & agriculture vocational vegetable gardens in schools and education centres; Stage II: Sponsorship of students for food & agriculture vocational training.
Stage III: Investment in rural food & agriculture social enterprises for young entrepreneurs

Since 2012 we have rolled out an Agriculture Skills in Public Schools Project which has seen 42 school vegetable gardens, 47 teachers trained as school garden managers and nearly 5,000 students trained to set up and tend horticultural spaces.

We are currently making the transition from Stage I to Stage II and, to achieve that, establishing an agriculture skills training centre which will focus on sustainable agriculture, agroecology and other rural development skills.
