Trustee with financial background for architecture charity


Are you ready to make a real difference? Could you help empowering communities through participatory design and innovative spatial interventions? We are currently seeking a passionate trustee with a background in finance and fundraising to join the diverse and enthusiastic Board who can bring the additional skills we need to lead the charity at this pivotal phase in its history. CatalyticAction is a small but high impact, award-winning charity, whose aim is to empower communities through strategic and innovative spatial interventions. So far, we have implemented 8 projects, mainly in Lebanon, tackling the Syrian refugee crisis. This year, we won the prestigious LafargeHolcim award for sustainable construction. We collaborate with larger humanitarian organisations, including Save the Children.  We are seeking a person who can help bring a fresh perspective on fundraising strategy and a sustainable business model helping secure funds to ensure continuity of our invaluable work. We are keen to diversify our approach to fundraising and this role provides a rewarding opportunity to play a lead role in developing this with the Charity. The successful Trustee should be willing and able to contribute to the full agenda at CatalyticAction. He/she will have the ability to build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues to achieve organisational objectives and demonstrate healthy understanding of risks. This is a voluntary position. Developing a fundraising strategy to maximize financial support from trusts, foundations and corporates and through events and donations work alongside the Executive Director to help to develop and strengthen key relationships and funding streams; broker new high-level partnerships; managing existing relationships; negotiate with funders to increase the core funding Ensuring that the charity is solvent, well-run, and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it has been set up Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies, for example the Charity Commission and/or the Registrar of Companies Attending meetings of the Board of Trustees


Affinity with the organisation's aims and an interest in forced migration and refugee issues Experience at management level, including a background in or strong understanding of charity finance, social enterprise or fundraising Strategic and forward-looking approach with a financial and commercial eye Time needed to attend bi-monthly board meetings in London or via Skype and suitable time for the discharge of the responsibilities listed above
