About the Summer Give

The Summer Give helps support some of London's most disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people during the long summer holidays.

While most children are looking forward to their holidays away and to enjoying fun activities with their family and friends, too many children in London won’t be going anywhere. 22 charities told us that 87% of the 3,676 children and young people they’re going to support this summer will be stuck at home or on the streets this summer.

That’s not the biggest challenge facing disadvantaged children though.

Our survey found that they’re frightened about being attacked or exploited by gangs (62%), or left on their own all day (47%) without enough to eat (37%), or being sexually exploited or attacked while they’re on their own compared to during term time (95%).

That’s why The Childhood Trust, London’s child poverty charity, launched the Summer Give; to give disadvantaged children and young people a chance to experience childhood in safety during the holidays, with fun activities, good food and friendship.

Your donation will help provide crucial support this summer when children are particularly vulnerable. Match funding is generously provided by The Childhood Trust to support charities working throughout London.
