Nature in Art - Art Purchase Fund

We want to be able to show our visitors the best examples from world renowned artists. Our collection already contains works of artistic and historical interest, but we are always looking to increase the number of significant pieces we hold. We also need funds to maintain the current collection.

  • Need

With the help of individuals and trusts we are looking to continue to gain important pieces of art for our collection to enable us to show an even more diverse range of art over longer periods of time. However, sometimes artwork comes and goes before we have had a chance to secure the funds for its purchase. We also need funds to maintain the current collection; for reframing or mounting costs, for new display materials etc.

This project concentrates on raising funds specifically for art purchases and will enable us to have funds available to use, or to secure match funding, when artwork becomes available.

It will also mean that should we need to pay for conservation for part of the collection, the funds will be readily available.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To raise funds for art purchases and maintenance of the collection.

» Highlight the need for more funds by providing the public with more information and keeping them up to date with our progress.

    What success will look like

Success will be ... having connected with the public to raise enough funds to purchase a significant item for the collection

  • Impact

New artwork will be on display to the public as part of our main collection and any new piece will also be highlighted in our education programme. We hope that this would provide enjoyment to our visitors and provide an excellent resource for the education programme.

The main risk is that we will not raise enough money to buy or contribute to the purchase of some artwork. However, we have not specified an end date to the project so that we can continue to collect funds until we have a sufficient amount.

We will update the Big Give with the totals and update our members in our newsletters. It will also be on our website and on notices within the Museum.
