Charity information: EZRA UMARPEH LIMITED

  • Need

Ezra Umarpeh are aware of the fact that there are unfortunate inconveniences when one has to care for a patient in hospital:
    • Hospitals are often in remote areas where there isnt always food and drink available and can be quite costly if purchased on premises.
    • The wards can at times be very stressful and hectic for friends and relatives tending to their loved ones.
    • Hospitals can be a great distance away from home and travelling can involve a lot of energy, effort and money.

    Respite rooms are:
    • Regularly stocked with hot/cold food and drink, available free of charge and caters for specific dietry requirements.
    • An energizing retreat from the tension and anxiety of the wards, where one can unwind with up-to-date reading material, snacks and a hot drink for as long as necessary.
There are sleeping accommodations in close proximity to hospitals available for overnight stay at no cost, saving a person the hassle of making numerous trips to and from hospital.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To ease the burden on family & friends of the sick in hospital, through Rooms of Respite and Relief.

» Ensure that food and drink are freshly updated on a weekly basis.
» Replace old reading material with new, up-to-date reading material on a weekly basis.
» Make certain that the room is kept in a hygenic and clean condition at all times.
» Take care of the maintenance and upkeep of the technical works in the room, such as changing a light bulb when necessary.

    What success will look like

Success will be when the respite rooms have offered carers & relatives a break from the ward and its environment, allowing them to regain their composure when burdened with illness

    Aim 2

To enable carers & relatives to support their sick, by residing in close proximity to the hospital.

» Supply all the essentials needed for an overnight stay such as, Bedding, blankets etc.
» Ensure the flat is cleaned and tidied on a regular basis.
» Take care of the maintenance and upkeep of the flat regularly.

    What success will look like

Success will be when the sleeping accommodations arranged have saved people effort, energy and transportation costs as a result of overnight stay nearby the sick in hospital.

  • Impact

This project will mean that anyone caring for an ill person in hospital, has the opportunity to take respite in a quiet room away from the hectic wards and enjoy some peace of mind, with some food, drink and reading material. Overnight stay nearby the hospital, will allow visitors to be close to their dear ones and be available for support at all hours.

The health, safety and hygiene of the Respite rooms and the sleeping facilities could be at risk as they are being regularly used by people. Ezra Umarpeh have dedicated volunteers visiting the rooms on a weekly basis, restocking the room and making sure all is in order, whether regarding maintenance service needs and cleanliness. The flats near hospitals are cared for by a cleaning company and our dedicated Trustees are in charge of restocking the flats and taking care of any servicing needs.

Donors to this project will be updated on a six monthly basis, with a Project R.R.R progress report, detailing its activities and developments.
