Medlock & Tame Community Conservation Centre

To educate the local community of wildlife and environmental issues in their local area. We need to re-decorate and make improvements to the kitchen and toilet facilities at our Community Conservation Centre. We aim to make the building a hub for wildlife conservation and green orientated groups.

January 2011 - December 2013

  • Need

The building has been neglected for 30 years and needs updating. There is a need for our local community to be involved in their local wildlife and environment and our centre is to be used as an educational centre for all ages. The building is lacking proper toilet facilities and a clean basic kitchen, both are necessary when inviting members of the public to our conservation events in the attached wildlife garden.

With re-decorating and providing both toilet and kitchen facilities we would be able to invite members of the public to this new education centre, presently only members can manage to attend. When we have safe facilities we would then be able to arrange for guest speakers to give talks and demonstrations to a wider population about conservation.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

    Provide toilet facilities.

» Make and sell bird boxes.

    What success will look like

Success will be...people will be able to stay longer without having to be in discomfort.

    Aim 2

Kitchen to be re-fitted with basic washing and tea-making facilities.

» Make and sell bird feeders

    What success will look like

Success will be...when we can offer refreshments to our volunteers in the wildlife garden, to other conservation groups and members of the public who are invited to our events.

    Aim 3

Re-decorate the meeting room and hallway

    » Sell plants and seedlings

    What success will look like

Success will be...having a clean building to invite people of all ages to without the danger of falling over torn carpets and being able to display posters on the clean walls.

  • Impact

Provide a comfortable wildlife conservation headquarters to be able to educate people of the local community of all ages the benefits of looking after the environment and making people aware of what they have on their own doorsteps.

Not enough voluntary help with the work involved. We are trying to broaden our membership and encourage more people to become involved. We can only proceed with this work with extra funding from outside sources and we are trying to raise funds for this work,

We have a web-site and newsletter where we would keep everyone involved updated with our progress.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

We have the building as a wildlife conservation head-quarter, it is in a time warp and need updating if we are to encourage members of the public to visit and consequently become involved in local conservation and environmental issues.
