Need
Need
We would like to help our visually impaired members who are otherwise housebound to come to the centre without cost. We would also like assist them to attend shopping trips, hospital appointments and other important appointments as well as take more people on day trips, excursions to help them live as full a life as possible despite their disability.
Solution
The purchase of 2 new buses will help us save costs on our current bus which keeps breaking down as well as allow more people to be collected and join in on trips.
-
Aims
Aim 1
To enhance the lives of as many blind & partially sighted people with social interaction.
Activities
» 2 buses will allow us to bring twice as many people from home to the centre and back again without cost to them.
What success will look like
Success will be shown by many more blind people no longer lonely and isolated at home, helping to combat depression and giving respite to family members
Aim 2
To help our members travel & experience days out from city trips to serious rambling!
Activities
» 2 buses will allow us to plan more trips, accommodating more people and changing the lives of many more members by giving them access to the outdoors
What success will look like
Success will be by being able to provide many more trips & allowing many more members to travel to day trips, go on rambling & excursions & do things they did not think they could
-
Impact
Impact
Social interaction & excursions will help members stay mobile and healthy. This will allow them to keep their independence longer to stay in their own homes rather than be placed in a care home. Day trips, excursions & adventures will help our all but especially our younger blind members experience things they may believe they cannot do because they are blind. The confidence these trips give our members continues to other parts of their life for confidence to seek out education or employment
Risk
There are no risks with the project - the only risk we have is having to stop these trips and services should we not reach our target. Resources are very short and every time our bus breaks down we have to hire one at a cost of £99 a day.
Reporting
We have a unique fund raising system that is accounted for and published within our annual financial statement. We also always write and give thanks to each donor. Permission is always sought before we publish the donor within any distributed newsletters.
