St. John's Smith Square Concert Series
We need to sustain our concert series at St. John's, Smith Square, London, where we are resident. Years of formal training could go to waste without the opportunity for these young musicians to practice and maintain their art. We give a minimum of four courses and concerts per annum.
January 2011 - December 2011
Charity information: Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra
Employment for young musicians when they have completed their formal training.
Providing playing and performance opportunities; preparing the musicians in the repertoire that will be required by their future employer.
To provide playing opportunities for young musicians who have not yet found a job in the profession.
Activities» Rehearsing the orchestra involving tutors from the profession.
» Giving concerts at St. John's, Smith Square, London.
What success will look like
Success will be demonstrated by the number of musicians who gain employment in the profession.
For over forty years, YMSO has been providing all UK orchestras with musicians.
If players are unable to play in our concerts through illness or getting a professional job, we are able to cover this as we have a reserve list of players which we draw up from our auditions, which are held every two years.
A quarterly newsletter will be sent to all donors giving them forthcoming concert details and updating them on player successes into the profession.

The rehearsals are held at the 'Warehouse' in Waterloo. This is a converted building and has been made into three rehearsal studios. This project was funded by the Foundation for Sports and Arts. Concerts are given at St. John's, Smith Square, London. This church has been deconsecrated and is used for recitals and orchestral concerts. It has a charming restaurant in the crypt.
Approximately eighty musicians per concert and an audience of about five hundred will benefit from each event. Audiences come from all over the London area and the musician from throughout the UK.
We have nearly forty years of experience and a good track record. No other organisation has placed as many musicians into the profession as YMSO.
