  • Impact

    Our organisation has a track record of working with other organisations and local community groups in Ethiopia over the last 10 years. And We will continue to support and strengthen local organisations and community by working in collaboration and partnership on common issues, which are considered as the main sources of the problem for street and working children and young people. We will also continue to work closely with local schools to track the progress of the children.

    We have learnt important lessons from our experience of 12 years’ service provisions for street and working children/young people, through our enquiry/evaluation and monitoring systems. In order to get street children/young people back to their communities and live a normal life, it is essential to support families who are responsible for children and young people’s future. We have dealt with this risk by supporting and involving families in to decision making, to bring a lasting solution.

    Funders of this project will receive email reports on the project activities and an up-to date progress. A newsletter report every three month, full detail of the project and the on-going activities,pictorial and DVD.

  • Background

    We work in the poorest city and local district of Ethiopia
    * Arada Sub-City, Addis Ababa
    * Combolcha, Wollo province
    * Arsi Bekojii
    We also promote and hold awareness workshop every year in the UK.

    The project will reach people who are in great need. Most of our project activities will be running in most affected areas of the country. For example, Wollo province in which we intend to run 60% of the project is one of the worst provinces in Ethiopia, Study shows there are around 15,000 street children in the city. According to a local study in 2004 by the Arada Sub-City Social Affairs Office, only in one borough in Arada Sub-City area more than 8,000 street children have been identified.
