  • Need

    Need

the project is trying to solve is more Independence as our disabled members live with families who do everything for them which is very nice.
this project will help learn lifeskills which will help in their every day life and confidendence to go and try new things or just go out and do what most people take for granted.
Also this project will help families(carers) to have a rest from caring so they can catch up with other family members and to take a well earn break so can carry on caring.

    Solution

the project will solve the problem by taking a group at a time which will help each other with the volunteer carers taking a back seat so the disabled person can work with others in the group and learn likeskills together.
We shall start a couple of months before the break by having meetings which will help to learn how to book for a holiday, then book the holiday, what we need etc.
Then when we are there how to make choices tec.
Then after the break talk through what has been learnt.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

to go on a break to blackpool in 2011

    Activities

» to have 20 workshops before the break to learn how to go about going on holiday.
» to go on a training break
» while on the training break learning skills and encouraging Independence by booking shows, going on buses/trams,ordering drinks/meals.
» to have 10 workshops talking through what we did,how we did and what we learnt.

Success will be... 15 disabled people be more confident and learnt skills and be able to make choices more easier.
    Families(carers) will be stress free.

  • Impact

    Impact

long term changes will be disabled people be able to make choices about their lives and confident enough to be able to be as Independence as they can and have a better life though it.
Families(carers) will be more healthier, and be able to care for longer, also have a better relationship with the family disabled member as they will be able to do more.

    Risk

there is a risk that a member could get out of their dept but with working as a group no one will do it on their own as each will help each other, also with the volunteer carers will be in the background and will help out if anyone needs help.
Also as Blackpool isnt too far away from Bolton we will have a safely net that the family(carers) would come up if needed.

    Reporting

funders of the project will receive an email with a written report every month while the project is going on.
