To enable OSCAR to employ the services of a full-time Director.
Charity information: OSCAR - The UK Information Service for World Mission
Many people who volunteer for Christian work overseas lack the support they need to carry out their work effectively. At any one time, there are between 5,000 and 8,000 people engaged in this type of work and a large proportion of these work in remote and isolated locations with little help from outside their situation.
OSCAR is a support network which provides information, advice and resources for anyone involved in Christian work overseas. We have a regular user base of around 10,000 people per month and maintain a support service by Web and email 24/7. Having a dedicated, full-time director is crucial to the continuation of our services.
To employ the services of a full-time director.
Activities» We have a director who is currently part-funded, but the recession has made funding this position extremely difficult.
What success will look like
Success will be when we reach the full amount
Our charity's work is so dependent on the director that everything would suffer without their ongoing input.
If we cannot raise the funds, our support network suffers. We are attempting to expand our support base and diversify our income sources but the current financial climate has made this very difficult.
Our most recent annual report is always available. We are also willing to report any specifics that our funders request.
