The Alps Astorturf Appeal
To install a multi-purpose, floodlit, sports and leisure facility in the grounds of St Edmund's School Canterbury.
St Edmund's School Canterbury Foundation
There is a lack of training facilities in the Canterbury area available to schools and the local community.
Matches are restricted according to the availability of local sporting facilities.
Practice time is limited by inclement weather and poor light through the winter months, having a negative impact on the standard of play.
The pitch will be made available to the local community outside school hours.
More matches could be held at St Edmund's giving more opportunities to schools in the local area.
It would allow young, sporting enthusiasts to develop top ball-handling skills through increased practice time.
Encourage youngsters to develop top skills and compete on a level playing field with other schools.
Activities» Host a greater number of competitive matches.
Success will be through enhanced play among sporting enthusiasts.
The project will provide a career path for many local school children.
One of the biggest environmental problems is that artificial turfs are incapable of tackling carbon dioxide released into the air. Normal turfs can capture carbon dioxide and transfor it into oxygen. To that extent they add to the greenhouse effect. To compensate for this, the project will include the planting of trees and shrubs around the pitch.
Funders of this project will receive regular email reports on the project detailing the ongoing and forthcoming activities and any necessary changes that have been made to the project plans.
