Pakistan Floods: Emergency Appeal

Al-Fazl Foundation (UK) is urgently appealing to assist the millions of people that have been affected by the destructive floods. Not only have they lost their homes, but livelihoods have been destroyed, and there is now an increased risk of waterborne diseases alongside other poverty-related diseases

July 2010 - July 2011

  • Need

In the emergency situation, there is an urgency to provide shelter, clean drinking water, food and medical care. These are the basic necessities required to prevent further lives being lost. Ultimately, we would like to help people rebuild their lives. This will take time but we are committed to supporting them throughout this difficult time.

In such desperate times, people are resorting to drinking contaminated water to stay alive. Access to clean drinking water will inevitably reduce the health implications and deaths related to waterborne diseases. With entire villages being destructed, access to medical care is also essential for those stranded in the areas hit by the floods. Our main focus right now is to help save lives.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide emergency aid to the millions affected by the destructive floods.

» Distribute family food packs - one food pack will feed a family of 6 people.
» Emergency shelter - Put up tents and provide duvets, particularly as the winter is approaching.
    » Distribute clean drinking water
» Open mobile health clinics - providing medical advice and medication from volunteer doctors and healthcare professionals.

    What success will look like

Success will be achieved by providing relief to those in urgent need.

  • Impact

Helping people build their homes and re-establishing their livelihoods.

If emergency aid is not provided, the situation will get much worse and more lives will be lost. So far, our volunteers are on the ground and providing the basic necessities to prevent the health implications associated with such conditions.

We will be filiming our projects which our donors will be able to view online. We will also send out literature informing our donors on exactly what is happening in Pakistan.

Our dedicated team of over 300 volunteers are locals who are not only experts in their fields but also experts in the language, and have strong links within the local community and awareness of the area, therefore are very suitable for this project.
