  • Need

Major floods hit Pakistan in late July causing huge destruction, loss of life and enormous displacement of people most especially those living in poverty. According to the latest information from the Pakistan government and other sources 16 million people now have been affected by the disaster since its onset.

The scale of the disaster is unprecedented in terms of people affected and the long term implications on people’s livelihoods, protection, and quality of life.

ActionAid Pakistan is currently working with local partners responding in Swat, Swabi, Bagh, Muzaffarabad, Layyah, Mianwali, Bhakkar, and Kot Adu districts. To date we have reached out to over 20,000 people with relief supplies including food packages, household kits, kitchen sets and hygiene kits to help meet immediate needs of those affected.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide urgent relief to people affected by the flooding

» Provide emergency food packages to vulnerable families
» Provide non-food items such as household kits, hygiene kits and kitchen sets to vulnerable families

    What success will look like

Success will be reaching those most in need with the emergency aid they require.

  • Impact

ActionAid will continue to work with affected communities long after media attention on the floods has disappeared. After our immediate response we will work to rebuild peoples livelihoods, enhance their preparedness for future disasters and provide support to ensure that those affected can emotionally deal with the the trauma they have experienced.

    Risks include:
Limited access to some areas as a result of the foods which have washed away roads and bridges. Continued heavy rains will hamper relief efforts. LImited funds will reduce our reach.

We will keep donors updated on a regular basis via updates on our website.
