  • Need

The lack of medical care for innocent people who win their appeals, some after serving 15/20/25 years of wrongful imprisonment, are suddenly thrown back out into society, with no preparation no counselling, all have been diagnosed with severe PTSD DSM IV. Unlike guilty offender, innocent people are been thrown out of the appeal court with no medical help for the trauma they have endured whilst wrongfully incarcerated, compounding their trauma, very often becoming suicidal or premature deaths.

It is a tragedy of immense proportions to think helping to get innocent people out of prison is ultimately damaging them irreparably due to the lack of specialised counselling. We believe a specialised trauma unit is needed,we have the support from world leading experts in trauma, such as Prof. Gordon Turnbull, who treated the Beiruit Hostages,Dr Adrian Grounds,Helen Bamber,John MacCarthy and Terry Waites, we have a growing clientele all we need is the money and resources to build this retreat.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To build a specialised unit as a retreat for innocent men and women released from the appeal court

» We need to raise £2 million, the running cost will come via the NHS to treat our clients, the money will build such a retreat for the whole of the UK

    What success will look like

Success will be...helping victims of our judicial system start to lead a normal, healthy and productive life, as well as their family and friends who suffer secondary trauma.

  • Impact

The Trauma Centre will create a unique and innovative facility that will become a centre of excellence in the treatment of trauma. We believe that not only will it help innocent people, and their families, move on with their lives, but due to the level of trauma they suffer from, the medical staff will learn from this chronic, and compounded forms of P.T.S.D.,will be invaluable in treating others who have suffered a traumatic moment.Successes will be measured by the medical staff and their treatment

there are risks the one centre for the whole of the UK may have geographical problems for access for our service users. We have dealt with this firstly due to the nature of our relationship with clients before they win their appeal, as well as fostering good relationship with other agencies, such as Miscarriages of Justice Support Service, the NHS and other benefit agencies. It would also act as one stop shop for medical support, benefit, financial and housing information.

THis will be done online with monthly updates as well, an annual report online and an annual general meeting for all invited, trustees, patrons and donors.

£2,000,000 MOJO Trauma Retreat Costing by renowned architects Gareth Hoskins
  • Background

At the present moment we have a number of possible sights, including Blair Castle in Fife. However we where advised, by our architects, to raise the money before staring to look for premises. It would be in an isolated rural area for peace and tranquility

Well apart from our service users, families and close friends being able to lead a normal life again. We believe, as do the medical experts, that this form of trauma is so severe that by treating long term innocent men and women, we would open up the key to finding ways to treat individuals suffering from traumatic moment such as accident, disasters and crimes of violence ie children of abuse and victims of domestic abuse.
