  • Need

    1. We want to increase the local community's ownership and use of Brockwell Park. Music, arts and drama events help to attract people into the Park, including those who would not normally visit.
    2. There are currently very few venues in Lambeth if any for the local community to enjoy theatre. Accessible, open air theatre is a way of addressing this.

    1. An increase in the number of people using the Park; creating a sense of cohesive community and local ownership of the Park including volunteering opportunities; improved health and well being due to fresh air and physical exercise.
    2. Free access to entertainment that would not otherwise be available in the local area.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

We will run at least 10 community events as part of the MAD Programme between April and October 2014

» The events include live music events, live theatre (a children's classic or Shakespeare), dancing, Art in the Park ('chalk in') and Dog Show.

    What success will look like

An increase in the use, and enjoyment, of Brockwell Park by the local community.

  • Impact

Long term we want the local community to feel that Brockwell Park is their park and freely accessible to all, creating a more cohesive community in Lambeth & Southwark.

We have public liability insurance in place for each event staged as part of the MAD for Brockwell Park Programme. A MAD Committee meets regularly to administer, and provide volunteer support, to each of the events.

We will use clickers at each event to count numbers of people attending, and have an evaluation form to gauge the difference that each of the events makes to attendees.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

We are the community forum for Brockwell Park and have been growing the MAD Programme steadily for a few years. Between 2010 and 2012 we attracted 17,000 local residents to 40 community events in the Park through 'MAD' and can call on considerable volunteer support and administrative experience.
