Charity information: Women's Therapy Centre
The project will support women experiencing social exclusion, poverty and mental and emotional ill-health and provide them with a programme of psychotherapeutic and practical support to enable them to make positive changes in their lives. We know there is a clear correlation between poverty and mental ill health and that improving someone's mental health can lead to better outcomes in life expectancy, physical health, educational achievement, criminality and employment status.
It will enable women the to talk about their own internal worlds in a therapeutic setting, where they will not be judged and to talk safely about their feelings, often for the first time. This will enable women to gain an understanding of the underlining caused of their issues. This understanding and insight will enable women to make changes to improve the quality of their relationships with others and to reduce feelings of low self esteem, depression and lack of confidence.
Women will have a greater understanding of the challenges they are facing in their lives.
