Puppetry for all for ever!
To provide much needed core funding support for Norwich Puppet Theatre to enable our ongoing work, and new and exciting projects to develop from a secure base.
As one of only 3 puppet theatres in England - this is an important gem not to lose.
April 2016 - March 2020
Charity information: Norwich Puppet Theatre Trust Ltd
With the current government's austerity measures the Local Authority support we have continued to enjoy is being reduced year on year, putting more pressure on the Puppet Theatre to find funds to keep the building open rather than for exciting new projects.
We can seek specific funding for project work in the community, what we are looking for is support for backroom / running costs to enable the projects to run.
The project will create a secure funding stream for the next 5 years which will then enable the Theatre's fundraising efforts to be concentrated on project and development work.
Projects including creating new work, working with deprived children at the Theatre and in the community; Development work including refurbishment of the venue, new IT, new heating/ventilation schemes.
To secure regular core funding for the Theatre for at least 5 years
Activities» Use existing charitable foundation contacts to build ongoing relationship.
» To identify and apply to trusts, foundations and businesses to support core costs.
» Use the BigGive as an access point to new sources of funding
» Use contants from innovative fundraising schemes like the Puppet Auction to foster new ongoing funding support.
What success will look like
Success will be...securing a minimum of £25K as regular funding for a period of 3 years.

The project is located at Norwich Puppet Theatre which is housed in the purpose converted Grade 1 listed church of St James' in Norwich.
The Theatre opened in 1980 and the Octagon Studio extension was added in 1985.
The Theatre programmes puppetry performances, workshops, evening and master-classes. It is also extensively used by local drama and music organisations for performances and rehearsals.
The benefit will be to the citizens of Norwich and Norfolk. They will have continued access to ONE of the only THREE dedicated puppet theatres in England.
The Theatre is a resource in itself, but also is the base for extensive outreach work into schools in the urban and rural communities of Norfolk.
Norwich Puppet Theatre is only one of three dedicated puppet theatres in England.
It is sited just to the north of Norwich city centre and is easily accessible by car, bus or train.
The Theatre has a 30 year history of delivering performance and workshops and is well suited to providing adaptable solutions to creative challenges.
