Charity information: Holt Summer Festival
Lack of local availability of Quality Opera in a rural community - simply too expensive to buy in.
Make the process fun and engaging for sponsor, production team, cast, and the community (who would feel some ownership of a local project).
Use emerging RCM (and equivalent) talents to make it affordable.
To provide quality operatic production to a rural community.
Activities» To make it a home grown production and thereby engage the public in a sense of ownership.
Success will be...Full houses, critical acclaim, community involvement, demonstrating the appetite of the public, providing the impossible for our rural community.
To provide a platform for emerging talent with an experienced producer.
Activities» Produce and perform the opera
Success will be...Quality of performance and watching their career development.
Demonstration of our intention to innovate and create, and to be a manufacturer of culture not just a consumer. This production will be the foundation stone on which we hope to build a tradition of home grown production. (This year we have already made a modest start with our "Festival Rep" who will be performing scenes from Shakespeare in the town,as well as musical and literary productions).
Success will be full houses.
As part of a much larger Festival thee project would benefit from an infrastruucture of saless and marketing thatt is already in place. The sponsor would in effect underwrite the production using a successful financial template that we have already used (the biggest so far has been for £23,000 for a Blues Festival at our Open Air Theatre-in-the-Woods. The project would be financiall ringfenced and I foresee little risk.
It would be a constant process of communication between Production staff, Box Office, and Festival Manager - also The Board of Trustees (The Sponsor might like to join the Board)

Our first Summer arts Festival last year was an overwhelming success, and resulted in pleas for it to become an annual event. We have expanded our budget by 85% this year due to enthtusiasm from local philanthropists and Sponsors. We now have a good infrastructure in place and would like to progess to dedicated production.
