Small Change

One-off donations of a few pounds or regular donations of as little as £2p/m can make a big difference to an artists' career. All money raised through Small Change goes directly to artists, through our Artists' Bursary Scheme, which offers money, space and support to artists with great potential.

  • Need

Artsadmin is a charity and receives about 50% of its annual operating budget from Arts Council England. Many of our projects & activities are only made possible through additional support.

Artsadmin recognises that artists need dedicated time & space in order to research & create strong work. Opportunities for artists to experiment without emphasis on outcomes are very few.

We receive over 250 application on average each year reflecting the demand for this source of support.

Small Change will fund bursaries that safeguard open-ended & invaluable creative freedom.

Small Change will run in addition to Artsadmin's core fundraising activity to support artists to work through new ideas, research in an unpressurised way, & to show new work to the public.

"Artists are the ones who take risks, push boundaries & challenge our preconceptions. Our role is to help them to do it" Judith Knight MBE, Founding Director of Artsadmin

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To nurture the new generation of artists making exciting, engaging and challenging performance work.

» Raising funds through online donations (either one-off or regular) from individuals

Success will be a regular round of bursaries of around £3000 to up to 10 artists, offered every 18 months.

  • Impact

Continuation of a highly successful bursary scheme that has already supported over 150 artists.

Showcases and sharings of artists' work in a non-judgemental setting and extensive support from Artsadmin's team of advisors and producers.

"The open-ended strategy of the bursary scheme encourages a real creative freedom which has engendered a range of consistently high quality work over the years" Helen Paris, Artist

The current economical climate may mean that individuals have less money to contribute.
