Tiverton Market Drop-In Centre
Information and Support service for young people aged 11 -19 years. We offer daily high level of support in an informal way, building up long term relationships with 'hard to reach' disengaged young people. We aim to make a lifetime difference to these young people.
Charity information: The Tiverton Market Centre Co Ltd
Most of our young people have come from broken homes and have multiple issues. Many struggle with mainstream education because of ADHD, dyslexia etc. Many are in trouble with the police and some are homeless. The vast majority have drug and alcohol issues, particularly alcohol. We have seen an increase in mental health issues. These young people are vulnerable and need intense support as a lot of them do not attend school, college or have dropped out of the system.
The objectives are met by:
1. the daily "Drop-in" sessions when we see the majority of our young people. Working to 'The Every Child Matters Framework' ,Be Healthy, Stay Safe, Enjoy and Achieve, Make a positive Contribution, Achieve Economic Well-Being. The young people respond well to this approach!
2. complementary work with other services, including “Connexions”, housing advice,Counselling, drug and alcohol advice and sexual health service
