Here To Stay
The PF owns the premises it moved in to a couple of years ago, but only with the help of a big mortgage. We now need to raise the fund to pay of that loan. This will dramatically reduce our monthly costs, and will help make us truly sustainable in the long term.

PF Counselling Service
In recent years we have grown, established ourselves and become an integral and invaluable provider of counselling to individuals in need from across and beyond Edinburgh. We stretched ourselves to the limit in order to move to and buy our new premises - and that has cost!
We are able to do so much more, and do it better, now that we are based in a place that really feels like our own 'home'. More and better space is allowing us to improve the service and make it more sustainable. It also roots us into our community more effectively.
We believe that we could now sustain the ongoing expenses of our service, but need money we don't have to pay off the mortgage and do away with those costs forever.
To own our new premises outright.
Activities» Raise the money to repay our mortgage early, to remove variable and substantial premises costs and move the PF to a truly sustainable service.
Success will be clear when we have no more mortgage repayments or interest to find!
Most importantly, financial sustainability. By either reducing our costs through no longer paying £18k a year in interest and repayments, so being able to invest this in more and better services to the community. Success will be demonstrated by increased client outcome achievements and/or a significantly reduced proportion of our operational income being dependent on major donor fundraising.
There is a risk of not being able to meet our repayments if interest rates rise. We have dealt with this as best we can by ensuring we can move to a fixed interest mortgage if necessary.
Regular updates will be prepared for all stakeholders. We also keep followers informed via our website and Twitter.

The organisation offers counselling to clients from all over Edinburgh and eastern Scotland. The premises are located in the Morningside area of south Edinburgh.
Local clients, counsellors, families, and employers. PF clients are 65% women, 69% over 30, 60% in employment, from within and beyond the most deprived areas of Edinburgh. Our strength and experience is in working with the ‘hidden excluded’ of our community – those not exceptional enough to attract Government or society’s attention, but who nevertheless struggle with the changes in their lives.
PF delivers a unique service because we see clients irrespective of their:
• ability to pay (some agencies require a minimum donation or payment)
• geographic location (some agencies limited)
• presenting issues (some issue specific)
• duration of counselling required (most offer a limited number of sessions)
• background (many are only available to specific ethnic, religious/spiritual, social, etc. groups)
