Purpose built school and youth & family facility

Our current building limits us to 40 children. We want to build a school for 150 children enabling the solid work of the last 24 years to increase. It is vital that the facility can also be used outside of school hours for the wider community, with an emphasis and youth AND their families.

The build would take around 8 months.

  • Need

    Need

Bridgend Christian School desperately needs new premises that are suitable for our students.

    Solution

The final goal is to raise £7m for a purpose built school AND family centre. This will enable us to help more children (40 now, 150 with the new build) and positively & practically support family life.

This particular project will enable us to get the building fund established. Once a fund is started, there are more people willing to support us.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

The first step in raising £7m to build a new school & family centre

    Activities

» We have a package of fund raising events, Trusts to approach and possibly the donation of a building which we can sell on.

Success will be...raising the initial £50k target and also getting pledges from Trusts and other donors.

  • Impact

    Impact

The school has already got 25 years of success stories. Many are children who struggled in mainstream and yet have flourished beyond all expectations in Bridgend Christian School.

Long term, we want to see many more children supported in this way. Importantly, we also want to support families by providing a great facility where all age groups can mix. Interaction between the generations is actively encouraged and mutual respect is a key goal.

    Risk

£7m is a substantial amount of money for our organisation. If we were to fail to reach that goal, we would need to build a smaller facility, or in the worst case, simply renovate our current building.

    Reporting

We will keep in touch via email and web site updates, both with fundraising progress and building updates, once it commences!

Donors will be invited to the opening day.

  • Background

    Location

The school is based in Laleston, Bridgend, South Wales, but students travel up to 30 miles. The majority of students are within a 5 mile radius of the school.

    Beneficiaries

The children who attend the school will benefit, as will their families. You can read testimonials on our web site of the profound difference the school has made in children's lives AND their families.

To see children who were bullied or school phobic, or depressed, or struggling with learning disabilities. come to the school and be happy and successful, is a joy beyond words!

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

Bridgend Christian School has a 25 year track record, with hugely dedicated staff (who work for 25% of the salary they could earn in state school).

The Christian ethos of the school leads to a fantastic supportive family atmosphere where struggling kids thrive.

We have around half of the students who do not have any particular issues or struggles, and that is vital for both types of student as they learn from each other and friendships form across the academic divide.
