Engaging disadvantaged youth in Chinese Wushu
To get more disadvantaged NEET young people aged 16 - 25 years engaged in the CCPC's method of Chinese movement and dance to benefit their self expression, confidence, creativity and health and support their transition from education to adulthood.
Young people can drop in and out at any time but we strive for long term retention.

The Active People Survey demonstrates that too many young people in England do not meet recommended levels of physical activity. This combined with not eating correctly is resulting in increased obesity levels and associated health problems such as Type 2 diabetes on the rise(Diabetes UK). There is also a lack of choice in activities available for young people to do in many locations. Many young people feel disconnected with mainstream activities and yearn for something artistically different.
The project aims to develop, promote and deliver artistic classes for young people that will provide them with an alternate way of experiencing the world. They can attend either in-school time or out of school in the community and progress into FE and HE. The CCPC engages with local authorities, youth groups and careers PAs to ensure the initiative is well promoted and locally 'joined up'. Chinese movement and dance is a traditional way of developing and communicating knowledge.

To enable disadvantaged young people to successful transition from education to adulthood
Activities» Through Chinese Wushu young people will develop soft employability skills that are key to recognising self responsibility and realising change
Participants self and peer assess progression in soft and employability skills and measure distance travelled in respect of these. A new enrolment or job are key measures also.
External evaluation has demonstrate that participation in our classes leads to other learning and personal outcomes for young people. We often use questionnaires (Survey Monkey) and feedback on social media sites (Facebook) to evaluate this. Improved creativity, ability to self assess circumstances, improved relationships, enjoyment of learning - all have a positive impact on the participants community, friends and family for example. It also has a direct impact on 'behaviours' for employment.
The most important risks relate to the health and safety of young people accessing our services. Our Child Protection Policy and Procedures follow those from our National Governing Body (EMDP) with Enhanced CRB checks, risk assessments etc in place. Our teachers hold a nationally recognised teaching qualification to at least VQ Level 3 and also receive training in first aid, health & safety, child protection and equal opportunities.
Donors who wish to be contacted will receive a copy of our Trustees Annual Report. We will gladly provide updates on any specific project they have donated to through newsletters, our website and social media sites and by personal correspondence if required. We will demonstrate value for money.

Mainly disadvantaged communities in England including Yorkshire (especially Leeds where we are based), North East, North West, MIdlands and London.
Young people mainly from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our focus is on young people in Years 10/11 aged 16/17 years. Will would expect many of these to be not in employment, education or training and to include ex-offenders.
The College of Chinese Physical Culture is the governing body for Chinese exercise, movement and dance in the UK. It is a member of the Sport and Recreation Alliance (formerly CCPR) and the Exercise, Movement and Dance Partnership. Since 1998 it has been delivering and developing it's approach to working with disadvantaged young people and adults with outstanding success verified by independant evaluators. The College support the London 2012 Torch Relay through IMOVE and is well connected.

John is a Trustee and coordinates and manages the CCPC's provision for young people.
Jack is a founder member of the CCPC and acts as a highly motivational and inspirational lead for other members of staff, teachers and volunteers.
