Holiday Support Fund
Because people with a learning disability often need support to do everyday things, they not only have to fund their own holiday, but also that of a support worker. This funds pays for the support worker where the person cannot pay for it themselves.
Ongoing need - hence no dates
People have to pay double the cost of someone else to go away on holiday, because they need to pay for a support worker as well. It is therefore more costly. But also people with a learning disability are more likely to be on benefits, thus reducing their ability to pay and to get a break away.
This fund allows people to apply for the cost of a support worker to go on holiday with them, thus removing this obstacle. It means such a lot to someone to be able to go on holiday, when they would not be able to otherwise.
Grants of up to £750 will be given to people to fund the support whilst on holiday. Grants from £300 to £748 have been given already.
To empower poeple with a learning disability to be able to live a normal life.
Activities» We will pay for the support worker enabling the person with a Learning Disability, who pays for themself, to have a holiday.
Success will be when people with a learning disability being able to go on holiday. We will keep records of the grants that are given and ask the people to use thier case stories.
The health and wellbeing of the people with a Learning Disability will improve as a result of them having a holiday. This will be evidenced through talking to the people with a learning disability and through their support plans.
The main risk is that there is not enough money to satisfy everyone.
A second risk is that grants will be given to people who do not need it. However, the application process contains checks to reduce the chance of this happening.
We will agree reporting with donors according to need.
Regular contact will be made commensurate to the level of donation.
