The fight against Malaria
The launch of a charity song to increase global awareness and funds for malaria, the biggest killer of man. Every 40 seconds a child dies of malaria. Each CD sold will purchase a mosquito net and save a child's life. 75% of all deaths occur in children under the age of five in sub-Sahara Afric

The Butterfly Tree
The shortage of mosquito nets and malara testing kits in Zambia. All children under the age of five and pregnant women, should be provided with mosquito nets but this is not the case, there is a massive shortfall particularly in the rural villages. The Butterfly Tree addresses this issue and provides, not only nets and testing kits, but educatonal workshops.
The Butterfly Tree provides additional mosquito nets and malaria testing kits. In areas of distribution our reports show that there are no new cases of malaria. The testing kits provide crucial early diagnose, so the patient can be treated correctly.
The educational workshops improve understanding about the dangers of malaria, the importance of being tested and the essential use of mosquito nets.
To save lives by providing mosquito nets
Activities» Raise funds through our charity song, 'Change for the Better', each CD sold buys a mosquito net
» The use of our website to appeal to donors to fund our malaria programme and sales of the charity song, 'Change for the Better'
Success will be...to have distributed enough mosquito nets to evry child and pregnant woman in the area of our work - the Mukuni chiefdom, Zambia
The reduction of malaria cases in rural areas and to show that the death rate, particularly in children, has been significantly reduced. Studies will be undertaken and reports given on the use of mosquito nets, malaria testing kits and edcuational workshops. The workshops play an invaluable part in providing education on the dangers of malaria, how it can be caught and the importance of early testing.
That we are unalbe to provide sufficient mosquito nets and malaria testing kits due to lack of funds. We have an annual sponsorship from a regular donor to support this programme

The Butterfly Tree supports rural communites in the Southern Province of Zambia. The location of this project is in the Mukuni Chiefdom in Kazungula District
The population is in excess of 20,000. Two thirds of the population live on less than 50 pence per day, many live below the poverty line due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
The area is close to the Victoria Falls and is rapidly developing in tourism. The Chiefdom is pro-active in allowing tourists to visit the main village for a cultutal experince. The Butterfly Tree believes, that through education, the school leavers will have a chance to seek employment through the tourist industry.
We have an experienced team on the ground, one of our members is Chairman of the Livingstone Malaria Board. The medical staff at the clinic funded by The Butterfly Tree have a vast experience in this field.
As a charity we have a reputation for getting things done, we are all volunteers both in the UK and Zambia, enabling all donations to go directly to the casue. We do NOT deduct any personal fees. Our malaria programme has been running for 3 years and has proved to be successful
