  • Need

    Need

Brathay works with those under 25 who are most disadvantaged or vulnerable, and who have suffered abuse or neglect, social exclusion or who are outside employment, education and training. We support our beneficiaries to develop the skills and confidence they need, to make positive lifelong behavioural choices. Our vision is of a society where all children and young people have access to formal and informal education to enable them to fulfil their potential.

    Solution

The key to our work is that people learn by doing. Our unique bespoke programmes combine targeted youth and community work with experiential learning in a residential setting. Brathay help to accelerate the young people’s understanding of the situation they are in now and support them to reach where they aspire to be. They learn to work with others, to understand and appreciate people’s differences, and to take responsibility for their actions.

    Impact

Evaluation of our programmes identifies the outcomes achieved by the young people, and measures the programme’s design and structure, to make recommendations for future developments and improvements to the delivery.
On a wider note we believe the participants’ families and wider communities will also greatly benefit from Brathay’s programmes as the participants gain employment, training, re-engaging with education, address housing needs etc.

    Why Us?

We work to empower young people fully by providing opportunities to challenge themselves and develop their own skills and knowledge. We are committed to providing mechanisms throughout delivery to give participants a strong voice that will be heard. A Brathay distinctive is our ability to be responsive to the most diverse of needs, and if required we redevelop areas the programme to ensure it meets the individual needs of all the participants.
