  • Need

People who are victims of homophobic bullied are not fully informed as to the services and support available to them in our area.

By targeting head teachers and youth workers with information about the helpline service we provide, by issuing posters to be displayed in high school, colleges, universities and youth centres, and by providing training workshops to all our volunteers specific to the subject of homophobic bullying.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Support the victims of homophobic bullying in schools, colleges, and universities

» Post out to high school, colleges, universities and youth groups/centres by sending posters and letters explaining our services
» Online advertising targeting 13-19 year olds
» Provide training to maintaining the expertise of our volunteers on this subject

    What success will look like

Success will be a measurable increase in young people calling or emailing our helpline regarding homophobic bullying

  • Impact

Increase general awareness of homophobic bullying by conducting a survey of teachers at schools, colleges, and universities show the majority are aware of our services

That the people we write to ignore our letters. We have dealt with this by informing them of their legal obligation towards having a policy for dealing with homophobic bullying and that making students aware of our services could be a part of that.
Not acquiring sufficient levels of funding is a risk which could be dealt with by cutting back on the amount of or by have any online advertising. This would reduce the numbers of people reached significantly but the project can still go ahead.
