  • Need

    Need

Based in Pembrokeshire, MAP provides a comprehensive independent advocacy service to those people, of any age, suffering the disempowering effects of mental health problems.

Efficient financial and administrative functions are essential to ensure that our advocates spend the maximum amount of time dealing directly with our clients. This in turn ensures an improved consistency of service delivery, and a closer integration across all our services.

    Solution

Secure and consolidate the administrative and financial support base which underpins MAP’s mental health advocacy services.

£29,435 will provide nearly 2000 hours of administrative and financial support.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To save, secure and consolidate the administrative and financial support base

    Activities

» Immediate funding required to secure the administrative and financial support systems for the organisation.

Success will be...having the administrative and financial support systems in place ensuring that our advocates spend the maximum amount of time dealing directly with our clients.

    Aim 2

Ensures that MAP as an organisation is able to invest in its long term fundraising programme.

    Activities

» Admin & financial post will work with committee on long term sustainably fundraising programme

Success will be...marked by the securing of continuous funding for all the advocacy projects, completion of the Advocacy Quality Performance Mark, & review of our funding strategy.

  • Impact

    Impact

Having the support systems in place ensures that advocates time is spent dealing directly with our clients, which in turn improves the consistency of service delivery. The post provides guidance on requirements, support and advice to the management committee. The success of the post is measured by the success and strength of the advocacy provided and the co-ordination between day to day operations and the management committee.

    Risk

Risks: without funding the administrative and financial support base would not be available. Advocates would need to spend a portion of their time dealing with administrative tasks and not with our clients. Our management committee of volunteers would not have the legal, statutory and regulatory guidance and support from the post. MAP is currently reviewing its strategy around funding to keep this post.

    Reporting

The organisation produces an annual report covering all our advocacy services. MAP is also happy to report to donors / grant givers individually should this be requested.
