  • Need

Our next major project is an artistic journey through the diverse lands, peoples, stories and cultures of the former Soviet Union. From October 2012 we will travel to the major cities of Russia, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine, meeting and working with theatre, dance, music and visual artists. Ultimately we will create new works of art, made in collaboration with artists from the region, that offer insight for new audiences into this rich and diverse part of the world

Dash's work is rare, ambitious, culturally important, international and consquently expensive! We have big plans ahead and to help us achieve them we need to raise an initial £12,000 from people like you.

Our initial fundraising activity will go towards supporting the first research trips that Dash's co-Artistic Directors will make out to the region, from autumn 2012 through to summer 2013. The Dash Lights will be making a vital contribution to the beginnings of the new Series of work

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Build a community of supporters, the Dash Lights, to help us to embark on our initial reseach trips

» Reach out to individuals who have supported us before or who are interested in the work we do. Offer our supporters a number of benefits and insights

    What success will look like

Success will be reaching our target for the initial fundraising activity, and embarking on several successful research trips

  • Impact

A core group of supporters will provide a backbone of support to allow the company to continue in its activities: they will be especially vital in allowing the initial research phases of the new Series to go ahead. It can be difficult to achieve trusts funding for a long period of purely research activity, so the Dash Lights will be essential in helping to fill this gap.
They will ultimately provide the foundation of support that will allow the creation of major new performance works to happen.

Members of the Dash Lights scheme will receive regular exclusive communications from us, with updates from our travels and insights into our creative processes, as the work of the Series develops.

  • Background

Dash Arts is based in London. The majority of its work is presented in London. Much of the work tours regionally (in the past this has included Leeds, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Exeter, Plymouth etc) and internationally (in the past we have gone to India, Europe, North America, Middle East and Australia).
Much of the research work for the new project will involve travelling abroad, to the countries of the former Soviet Union.

Diverse audiences in London, elsewhere in the UK, and abroad, will benefit from having the opportunity to see the final works in the Series, and will hopefully gain a new understanding of the culture & history of the region.
The productions in the Series will also be accompanied by a dedicated outreach programme, which will go wherever the productions go and will provide young people and community groups with creative education workshops and insights from the artists involved in making the work
