Smarter Start Up

Help us to create thousands more jobs for people who are otherwise excluded from the labour market with this project! Social Firms are one type of social enterprise whereby an enterprise is set up specifically to create paid employment for at least one quarter of the workforce who are severely disadvantaged in some way (e.g. people with mental health problems, learning disabilities, homeless people, ex-offenders etc.). Social Firms UK is the national charity support agency for Social Firms in the UK. This project is needed in order to learn from the experiences of Social Firm development across the UK and the rest of Europe: provide capital start up finance and good business mentoring against a business plan that illustrates job creation for severely disadvantaged people, against which a predictive Social Return On Investment analysis can be made.
