ESTABLISHING EDUCATIONAL SERVICES FOR DEAFBLIND CHILDREN IN PERU
By the end of this one year project we will have trained 100 teachers to identify and assess deafblind children, to develop individual support plans and to use a variety of communication systems.
We will also have trained community workers from two existing local disability organisations to offer community based rehabilitation services to deafblind children in their homes. They will identify, assess and provide services for deafblind children who otherwise would have had no access to support.
In total, an additional 55 children and their families will be able to access appropriate, quality services to build life skills and develop independence as a result of this project. Seven deafblind adults will also have access to vocational support in two occupational workshops.
