The future of cancer treatments - investment in radiotherapy

Radiotherapy is a vital treatment against cancer Around 40% of cancer patients will receive radiotherapy at some stage during their treatment – that’s around 110,000 patients in the UK alone, every year. Despite its importance as a cancer treatment, radiotherapy research has not kept pace with advances in other areas of cancer research. Cancer Research UK has pledged an initial investment of £9 million to establish an international centre of excellence for radiobiology research in Oxford.
