ECG Machine

Cardiac screening is an important area of CRY's work to reduce the incidence of young sudden cardiac death. To hold cardiac screenings, CRY needs a large of number of Electrocardiograph machines to screen over 30,000 young people a year for any cardiac conditions they may be carrying.

  • Need

Every week in the UK, at least 12 apparently fit and healthy, young people die suddenly and unexpectedly from an undiagnosed heart condition.

CRY screens young people between the ages of 14-35 for any cardiac conditions they may be carrying. We do this by initially screening young people with an Electrocardiograph machine, and the testing their hearts with an Echocardiograph machine if there are any abnormalities in their ECG. Therefore the ECG plays a key part in CRY's cardiac screening programme.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Diagnose young people for potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions, saving young lives.

» Screen young people with an ECG machine.

    What success will look like

We will demonstrate the success of this by looking into the number of young people screened and look at the number of people referred for further testing

  • Impact

If more people are diagnosed with cardiac conditions, they will be either treated or given advice about their condition, which will in turn reduce the incidence of young sudden cardiac death.

Update them on the number of young people screened and how many were referred on for further testing.
