  • Need

Bipolar Disorder is a severe mental health illness characterised by significant mood swings including manic highs and depressive lows with most individuals experiencing alternating episodes of both. Males and females of any age, social or ethnic background can develop the illness. Symptoms can first occur and then reoccur when work, studies, family or emotional pressures are greatest. In women it can also be triggered by childbirth or menopause. Key to coping

Our Peer Support Line team offer immediate, expert advice to thousands of individuals affected by bipolar. We listen, support, advise and signpost other organisations to ensure individuals contacting us receive the comprehensive help they need.
    • Our Peer Support Group service provides emotional and practical support through peer guidance to - and by - individuals, families and loved ones affected. There are over 100 grassroots Bipolar Support Groups across England, Wales and Northern Ireland

    What success will look like

Service users experience increased confidence, a sense of purpose and support directly from someone who has walked a similar path.

  • Impact

Practical advice and provide a non-stigmatised space for people to be able to talk.

The greatest risk with all our services is not raising enough funds to deliver against the accelerating demand for support.

Our donors will receive an end of year impact statement as well as communication throughout the year. In addition, we encourage donors to sign up to our monthly e-news, to keep up to date on bipolar and Bipolar UK.
