  • Need

FACTLab is a space where workshops delivered as part of FACT's Learning programme take place. Currently, the space is located back of house and both invisible and inaccessible to the public. FACTLab can only fit small groups in at one time, around 15-20 people. The redevelopment of the space will create a larger, more flexible space for learning projects to take place.

As part of the buildings capital redevelopment plan, FACTLab will be rejuvenated and equipped with cutting-edge digital technology. The space will be used by participants and rented out to other organizations in the city. FACT's current engagement through the Learning programme is 10,500, the redevelopment of the space will increase engagement by 10%.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To rejuvenate FACTLab as a co-working learning space

» To redesign FACTLab with the aim to create a more accessible space.

    What success will look like

This will be seen in the redevelopment of FACTLab, creating a space that is welcoming and equipt with cutting-edge technology.

    Aim 2

To realise FACT's ambition to engage with more people through art and technology

» The redevelopment of FACTLab will ensure that more workshops can be held in the space.

    What success will look like

This will be demonstrated through more people visiting FACT and engaging with FACT's Learning Programme.

  • Impact

The redevelopment of FACTLab will ensure the longevity of the space providing communities, professionals and artists with a space for creative needs and aspirations to flourish. The long-term benefits will be demonstrated through FACT's social media channels and website.

FACT relies on support from the public sector in order to deliver all aspects of its work. Currently, the spending cuts facing Local Authorities threaten our work. Support will enable the vital renovation of FACTLab to take place. FACT have recently submitted a Small Grants Application to Arts Council England for the core costs towards the redevelopment of the building. If this application is unsuccessful, equipment for FACTLab will be purchased for the space as opposed to a full renovation.

Donors will be updated on the status of the project via a monthly e-newsletter. The wider public will be updated via social media posts and content on FACT's website and blog.

  • Background

Liverpool is ranked the 4th most deprived local authority area, consequently, many young people do not have the opportunity to engage with art or technology. FACT's Learning programme aims to mitigate this issue through creative learning through workshops held in FACT and in local schools. FACTLab is housed inside FACT's gallery, in the center of Liverpool. Participants are encouraged to visit FACT and engage with the exhibition programme alongside and in response to workshops held in FACTLab.

FACT currently works with marginalised communities, including, over 60's, veterans and young people through a specially designed Learning Programme. FACTLab is frequently used as the site for workshops, participants will benefit from the refurbishment of FACTLab as they will have the opportunity to use cutting edge technology.
