  • Need

    Need

The children attending our services can be extremely challenging to look after 24/7. From eating to bathing, to even the basics such as getting dressed everything is an immense challenge with special children. The parents/carers and siblings need a break to enable the carers to focus more on their other children and enable them to be the best carers possible. In addition these children have less opportunity available to access regular fun activities.

    Solution

We will be taking the children away from Thursday morning to Sunday evening and provide them with an unforgettable fun experience. Every child will benefit from a 1:1 carer and activities will be all inclusive to ensure that the children enjoy every minute of their stay. In addition we will be providing sorely needed respite to the families that look after these children 24/7.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide a fun experience, not usually available to children with special needs and disabilities.

    Activities

» We will be having a trip on the way to the retreat. (destination to be confirmed)
» Sensory play such as slime baff, jelly crystals shaving foam etc.

    What success will look like

We will have questionnaires asking our children and volunteers what difference this made if any in the lives of their child.

    Aim 2

Provide all year round carers/families with respite.

    Activities

» We will take the children away over a weekend to provide the respite needed.
» A trip on the way to the retreat.
» A trip on the way back from the retreat

    What success will look like

We will be asking the parents what difference if any the weekend getaway had for the family.

  • Impact

    Impact

Our long term changes would include happier families as they know that their child is being well looked after and enjoying themselves whilst they have time to enjoy with other siblings and family members. We will hold a Your Say Day to hear the how the parents think this has made a difference and how we could improve.

    Risk

One risk could be a lack of successful funders although we have set aside unrestricted funds in the case of this occurring.

    Reporting

We will provide monitoring in the form of photographs and a letter detailing the difference that was made in the children's lives with quotes from parents.
