  • Need

    Need

The teams fleet of vehicles have reached the end of their life expectancy and we are starting to experience reliability issues. It is essential that all our vehicles can be deployed when we are called out to search for missing and vulnerable people. Our team members need to safely travel around Cornwall and Devon when needed. The new vehicle for our East Cornwall section will ensure we can find and rescue people effectively.

    Solution

The project will mean we have a new reliable vehicle which is fit for purpose. The current reliability issues being faced will no longer be an issue and our volunteers will be able to continue to provide our 24/7 emergency response service to Cornwall and Devon.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

The aim of the project is to purchase a new emergency vehicle.

    Activities

» We will purchase and fit out a new emergency vehicle in line with Mountain Rescue specifications.

    What success will look like

The success will be measured once the vehicle has been purchased. Once in operation the vehicle will be used on call-outs 24/7 by the team of volunteers to find missing people.

  • Impact

    Impact

The vehicle will enable the team to continue to operate efficiently for a good number of years. At the present our fleet of vehicles is suffering with reliability issues and this will be resolved for a good number of years.

    Risk

There are no real risks to the success of our project. We have a dedicated team of members who are committed to fundraising to ensure we can replace our emergency vehicles.

    Reporting

We will report via our current media channels, these can be publicly via our social media networks or directly via traditional or desired IT routes. We welcome visits to our team base and can prepare presentations if required. We have a good social media presence via Facebook as well as our website

  • Background

    Location

The project is geographically located in East Cornwall. However the area we work within includes Cornwall and Devon. The types of people we are called to help are vulnerable, children, elderly, suffering with dementia or can be despondent.

    Beneficiaries

The community contains vulnerable people including young people, despondents, elderly suffering with dementia and those suffering with various mental disorders. Anyone is at risk from becoming lost whilst hill walking or hiking but some people are inherently more at risk in their day to day lives. They can become lost very easily in rural areas of Cornwall. It is essential that people who are lost are found quickly and bought to safety as soon as possible our vehicles will ensure this happens.
