  • Need

    Need

As heating bills are ever increasing, it can be difficult for some people, especially the elderly, to stay warm and safe within their own homes, and difficulties may be faced with saving enough money for food and other necessities.

Many of the people who need help are often isolated socially; without the help from friends or family, it is vital that these people can receive the support they so desperately need and deserve.

    Solution

The ‘Surviving Winter’ Campaign offers people the opportunity to support some of the most vuneralble people in Milton Keynes as the cold nights draw in. We are a grant making organisation who will work with charities and groups to deliver projects that tackle issues such as fuel poverty, social isolation and other essentials.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

MK Community Foundation aims to help people stay safe, warm and healthy this winter.

    Activities

» Our appeal asks those who don't need their Winter Fuel Payment to Donate it to those who do.
» Our appeal asks for donations to our Surviving Winter Fund that awards grants to local charities.

    What success will look like

MK Community Foundation will award grants to local charities and community groups who are working with people who are most affected by the winter months.

  • Impact

    Impact

As a grant-making organisation we ask our grantees to complete a monitoring report that help us to demonstrate the impact on the community.

    Risk

There is a risk that our donor, who usually donate to this campaign, may prefer to do this through more traditional routes, such as by cheque. We plan to run an awareness campaign encouraging people to donate through The Big Give in order to match their donation.

    Reporting

We will create a yearly donor report for our surviving winter campaign.
