OTR Bristol Hubs

OTR Hubs are a safe and relaxed space for young people to simply drop into for a chat; no appointments needed. These sessions run every week throughout the year and offer a range of different workshops and groups throughout the week. It's the starting point to engage with all our current services.

We wish to make them a sustainable part of our ongoing support.

    Need

    In the current economical and funding climate, access to mental health support for young people is limited and often involves long waiting times.
    Young people's voices are often ignored in the process of seeking help and receiving support.

    We don't believe that young people are "broken" and we don't think they need an "expert" to tell them what's the right direction - instead we empower young people to make their own choices.

    Solution

    OTR's Hubs are the best place to find out more about what we do, particularly if young people are not sure where to start. We believe that no person in need should be turned down, and so we have developed a model in which we can provide a wide range of services to engage young people in constructive activities and support.

    We're empowering young people by allowing them to make their own choices around support services. The Hubs are the crucial starting point of their journey with OTR.

    To be the best place to find out more about mental health support for young people in Bristol.


    Activities

    » Train up 'Peer Navigators' to provide information and support for young people coming to OTR for the first time.
    » Provide trained professionals in the Hubs to provide one-to-one support where it is needed.
    » Organise a range of creative activities in the Hub to expand these sessions into regular showcases of other services.

    What success will look like

    We will ensure that not a single person is left without a suitable support, information and next steps to engage with our services.


  • Impact

    Impact

    For people engaging with Hubs we hope to be able to showcase the journey of their engagement with us and its benefits afterwards. Each service has its own measurements so we might do so by measuring results of counselling, action taken in our activities, participation or simply case studies.
    For young people in the area - we hope to increase our reach towards those who might not know about us by educating Hub attendees and developping peer-to-peer advocacy - volume of new participants.

    Risk

    The financial sustainability of the Hubs project is always unknown but we are doing our best to secure it through major funding in advance. We are also investing more time in community fundraising and specific campaigns like this one as well.

    Reporting

    We do our best to collect our data internally on a monthly basis, so that we can present our impact in any format required by our donors - such as an annual report or newsletter.
