  • Need

Christmas can be a joyful time of year, but for some it can also be a challenging time of year. We have found that young people are more likely to call our helpline service over the Christmas period, statistics show that last year we received more calls from young people concerned with their mental health followed by sex and relationships, money and housing. However, we did not have the capacity to meet the demand for our services.

The Mix wants to be the first point of contact for any young person 24 hours 7 days a week whenever and wherever they are. At present our helpline has limited opening hours for 2 weeks during the Christmas period.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

The helpline will be available to young people 24hrs 7 days a week during the Christmas period.

» Recruit and train more volunteers to be available to help during the Christmas period

    What success will look like

    Aim 2

To be the first point of contact for any young person all year round specifically Christmas

» Ensure more young people know about The Mix services by attending information days at educational institutions.
    » Co-creation

    What success will look like

How many YP we recruit from educational institutions and how many participate in co- creations.

    Aim 3

Tackle the epidemic of loneliness during Christmas

» Provide peer to peer support through our discussion boards
» Driving YP to our discussion boards
» Where do they go after discussion boards

    What success will look like

How many YP are active on our discussion boards.
Follow on from discussion board- how we measure that- link to loneliness

  • Impact

We want YP to make informed choices... (Mission statement)

demonstrate through how many YP we reach

    Demographic survey- Ross

Number of Vols we have, pick a volunteer and add what they do, how they feel, what they've learnt

Too successful in our marketing- The Mix could see an increase in calls. Signposting adequately and marketing appropriately and only to our demographic

not be able to take calls due to lack of volunteers and staff.- Put an ask out to our corporate partners to volunteer, ask previous volunteers if they are interested in volunteering again.
Training and retention of those volunteers.

We will provide a report on the impact that donors’ support has made to this essential service. Our experienced Marketing and Communications team will promote the success of the Big Give Christmas Challenge to all our supporters on the web, social media and other channels. Happy to meet with donors
