Thriving in Winter 2018/19
The North East has one of the highest levels of fuel poverty in the country. Many have to choose between heating their home, putting food on the table or buying their children a suitable winter coat. CDCF is fundraising to support local people having to make difficult decisions at Christmas time.

Need
Need
The North East has one of the highest levels of fuel poverty in the country, meaning many are having to choose between heating their home, putting food on the table or buying their children a suitable winter coat. CDCF aims to raise £12,000 to support people in County Durham & Darlington having to make these incredibly difficult decisions.
Solution
The money raised will be awarded as grants to local organisations and community groups who have projects they know support those most in need during the Christmas period. These may be projects which have been successful in previous years, or those which aim to tackle new challenges. Winter relief packs provided to those in desperate need, or luncheon clubs to help tackle social isolation are examples of what you might help fund.

Aims
Aim 1
Raise money to help older and vulnerable people in County Durham thrive during the winter months
Activities
» The appeal asks those who don’t need their Winter Fuel Payment to donate it to those who really do
» The appeal asks that everyone who cares about helping elderly, vulnerable adults who face isolation and hardship donates or raises funds
» We are working with partners to hold Christmas fundraisers - please get in touch if you think your organisation could help!
What success will look like
We will be able to award at least 10 grants to organisations who already improve people's lives

Impact
Impact
Through grant-making and supporting those who most need help in the winter months County Durham Community Foundation aims to benefit many elderly and vulnerable people in 2018/19
Risk
The main risk is similar fundraising campaigns running around the Christmas period. However our focus on one geographical region will highlight the need on our doorstep.
Our regular donors already make a huge difference and we have a social media and marketing plan to increase awareness of the campaign.Reporting
We will share key statistics across our communication channels and report on the successful grant applicants via our website. Donors can sign up to our newsletter to receive these notifications, or get in touch if they would like more detailed information which we would be happy to provide.
