January 2019 - July 2020

Charity information: Cambridge And District Youth For Christ

Cambridge And District Youth For Christ
  • Need

Some of the most dedicated volunteers working with young people are found in our local churches. But there are few chances for them to learn from others, grow their understanding and think bigger. The church is the biggest provider of youth work in the UK. But it is often the best kept secret. We want to help these brilliant community activitist to more effectively connect with young people in their community, recruit and train volunteers and increase their impact in young peoples lives.

We want to offer them a 2 year 'learning community' process to help them expand their vision and to bring their valuable work to a wider audience. Offering 24 hour conferences every 6 months, and group and individual 'coaching', this approach is proven to help develop an effective strategic approach to reaching young people.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

    Develop Leadership

» Provide personal coaching to youth group leaders

    What success will look like

Monitor the progress of leaders being coached through online assessment.

    Aim 2

    Grow vision and strategy

» LimitlessCommunity conferences provide tools to help shape their work

    What success will look like

Participating teams will present their plans at the end of each conference.

    Aim 3

Train leaders in sharing faith with young people

» Providing access to a video based course on leading young people.

    What success will look like

Leaders will report back at the start of each conference and tell stories of personal impact.

  • Impact

We aim to see hundreds of young people connecting with the youthwork of their local church for the first time. We will measure this throughout the process by asking churches to report on the attendance at activities offered to young people.

Risk 1: Failure to Recruit. We will need churches to be willing to participate in the process. We deal with this by building relationships with local leaders through our ongoing work, starting now.
Risk 2: Drop Out. Churches for various reasons might fail to complete the process. We will be as flexible as possible to respond to their needs.
Risk 3: Failure To Implement. Churches may make great plans on paper, but struggle to act on them. We believe personal coaching is key to action.

We will provide a comprehensive report after each conference (every 6 months), detailing the number of participating teams, their feedback from the conferences and stories of progress.
