Ready, Willing & Able

Help us launch the 'Ready, Willing & Able' pilot, SeeAbility's first supported employment programme. We will work with individuals who want to work, to build confidence & skills and match them with suitable inclusive employment by building relationships with employers for mutual benefit.

  • Need

    Need

    SeeAbility wants to launch the 'Ready, Willing & Able' pilot programme to support people with sight loss, learning disabilities and autism into work. People with disabilities are the furthest from the workforce with most not ever being asked what they might want to do with their life when they leave school. We want to support people to realise their ambitions and contribute to their communities.

    Solution

    To help people gain employment our Supported Employment Manager will build networks with employers, helping them create more diverse workplaces, where people of all abilities are included and feel valued. We must provide specialist, tailored job coaching that helps people overcome barriers and achieve exciting new skills and experiences every day.

    » By working with schools, colleges, social care providers & family networks we will maximise the number of people who would like to work get a job.

    Success will be based on the number of relationships built within schools, colleges & social care providers & the number of people using our programme from these sources.

    Create 'Ready, Willing and Able' Employer Partnerships

    » By working with local & national employers, HR leads, Learning & Development leads and attending relevant conferences we can showcase our expertise.

    What success will look like

    We wish to engage inclusive employers to place those we support. The number of placements will determine our success as well as our ongoing relationships with the employer.


  • Impact

    Impact

    Over the next five years people with sight loss, learning disabilities and autism will gain a) fuller independence and support into work and b) SeeAbility will have deeper relationships employer communities in order to provide the support. Ultimately, we hope that many more people feel empowered to embrace difference and in turn, this leads to a more inclusive society.

    Risk

    We will work with our fundraising and business development teams to seek a sustainable source of funding to ensure continuity in the programme over multiple years.

    Reporting

    We are committed to measuring our success and will do this every quarter towards our goal. Supporters will receive regular updates with significant findings and case studies. For key major donors, it may be possible to meet some of the individuals.

  • Background

    Location

    SeeAbility was established as The Royal School for the Blind in 1799. In 1994 we changed to SeeAbility and our aim to help people with sight loss and disabilities into their own homes. We now want to go one step further and help anyone with sight loss, disabilties and autism into work on a national or regional level. Our head office is in Epsom, and we now have 26 locations across the country.

    Beneficiaries

    Anyone with sight loss, disabilities and autism who needs help from the 'Ready, Willing & Able' programme to get into work. Having a job is known to have wide ranging benefits for people, including better health, more friends, and greater independence. We are here for anyone who needs guidance on how they can get into work.
