KPC Youth & Community - 20th Year and Onwards!

KPC celebrates 20 years of opening and supporting our local community - our doors opened to young people on 28th Nov 1998. We still believe in our original ethos of supporting young people, to give them better chances in life, and seek funding to support us moving forward and continuing our work

January 2019 - December 2019

  • Need

Continued issue of funding for the type of work we do - limited resources available to fund our work with young people and our local community - we want to ensure we can support those who need us in a responsive way, and ensure our doors

By helping to bridge the deficit we find our charity in. Due to the area in which we are based, we realise we cannot charge the full actual cost of our services to those accessing our provision. This type of campaign helps to ensure those who need us most are not disadvantaged and can still access our provision, and that costs can be subsidised to benefit more young people and community members. We are unable to get full cost recovery for the work we do, so fundraising such as this is vital.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Keeping our Service Open to young people

» Continue on-going fundraising to ensure continuity of our project & promoting what we offer

    What success will look like

    Remaining opening
Keeping our service responsive to needs

    Aim 2

Keeping our provision open to benefit the wider community

» Continue on-going fundraising to ensure continuity of our project & promoting what we can offer

    What success will look like

    Remaining opening
Keeping our service responsive to needs

  • Impact

Changes will be to give young people better chances in life, have support and guidance to help them become more resilient in their life choices/dealing with issues they may face.
This will be demonstrated through feedback/tracking, and monitoring their progress.
Some outcomes/changes will not be seen until a few years time - but we want to give them the best chances to have a good start in life, and know they have somewhere to gain support/guidance and advice going forward.

Not raising enough through our fundraising campaign - which may mean that we cannot provide the full services we hope for.

To deal with these risks we will use:
    * previous fundraising experience
    * extensive promotion of the Challenge via social media etc
    * promote the fact that we have reached a milestone 20 years for our charity

We do on-going contact via: Newsletters, Social Media, letters, phone calls (depending on who has donated) - and keep them involved in the project's success/news etc., on-going throughout the year

  • Background

We are based in a socially disadvantaged area, just west of Bridgend, South Wales, called Pyle. The area we work with in the main is called Cynffig - which encompasses Pyle, Kenfig Hill, Cornelly, Cefn Cribbwr and surrounds.
The area has high levels of unemployment, pockets were formerly classed as Communities First areas.

Young people aged 8+ attending our open access provision
Community members accessing daytime support such as help with employability and developing skills
These would in the main come from the areas above, but our remit covers Bridgend County also

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

We have a vast experience of working with young people and our community and an excellent track record of delivery.
We have good knowledge of the needs of our community and have been established here now for 20 years.
We are well known in the area, and particularly for young people are somewhere they know about from friends and families. Many young people attending are now the children of original members, who still value the support they were given themselves.
