You can show your support for the Injured Jockeys Fund's latest fitness and rehabilitation centre, Peter O'Sullevan House, being built in Newmarket and become a part of it, by making a donation.

    Need

    The Fund has helped over 1000 jockeys and their families and has paid out more than £18m in charitable assistance.

    The Injured Jockeys Fund helps any rider who holds, or has held, a Professional or Amateur licence issued by the British Horseracing Authority including Apprentice, Conditional and Point-to-Point riders, including any spouse, partner, child or dependant they may have.

    Solution

    This new rehabilitation centre will help treat our injured sports men and women providing specialist physio, hydro and fitness support.

    Additional expertise will include nutritionist and sports psychologist help and advice.

    » Create a life size horse sculpture made form Newmarket horse shoes and record peoples donations.

    What success will look like

    The sculpture will demonstrate the support given by our followers and raise funds for the rehabilitation build project.


  • Impact

    Impact

    Any amount is gratefully received and will be
    put to good use helping fund this project.
    For donations over £100 you will be allocated
    a horseshoe in recognition of your support
    and this will be used in the creation of a
    ‘Horse Shoe Sculpture’ in the grounds of
    Peter O’Sullevan House itself.
    Donations will be recorded in a formal journal
    located within the Peter O’Sullevan Library.
    This sculpture, created by renowned steel
    sculpture artist Tom Hill, will be made up of
    approx. 500 horseshoes.

    Risk

    As a self funding 'not for profit' charitable organisation we have to raise all funds needed and are reliant on the generosity and support we receive from our supporters.

    Reporting

    We will write to each donor personally thanking you for you donation and informing you of how your details will be recorded in the commemorative journal which will be homed in the Library at Peter O'Sullevan House, which you will be able to come and see.

    Location

    The sculpture will be prominently located at the new Peter O'Sullevan House rehabilitation centre in Newmarket and provide a lasting legacy to the support provided towards the build.

    Beneficiaries

    The Injured Jockeys Fund helps any rider who holds, or has held, a Professional or Amateur licence issued by the British Horseracing Authority including Apprentice, Conditional and Point-to-Point riders, including any spouse, partner, child or dependant they may have.
    The centre will also cater for the wider racing community and towns racing staff when needed.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

    The Fund has a team of eight Almoners who liaise directly with beneficiaries on a support basis and also a team of 30 volunteer visitors who keep in touch with old and isolated beneficiaries offering friendship and company.

    The IJF also works closely with racing authorities and other organisations on many initiatives such as funding on course physios and medical services and research into improved riding protection equipment for jockeys.
