SUMMER SCOUT CAMP FOR DISADVANTAGED YOUTH
Children from disadvantaged backgrounds are denied the opportunities enjoyed by others including access to entertainment, and freedom of movement due to financial & other restrictions. Two fun filled weeks in the summer holidays will engage these children in thought provoking talks & activities.

Children's internet use has reached dangerous highs in term time. During summer holidays time spent indoors increases dramatically. They are exposed to extended hours wasted online or are on the streets getting into trouble. Experts warn that active play is key in health and development however the fear of strangers, traffic, accidents and financial restrictions of parents combined with the lure of digital technology is leading children to lead enclosed lives.
We will help occupy children in a constructive and productive way by active play, scouting, traditional sports and day trips. This will enable children to actively engage with peers through educational and leisurely scout activities resulting in a better understanding of using their free time wisely and actively.
Fun and educational play options available to them will help build their self-esteem and confidence by developing their social interaction and communication skills.
Diverting wasted screen time indoors into active & constructive play.

Not attracting children who need it most and some families do not trust to send their children away. As we have done projects in the past we can reach out to a wider community.
Some attending can still feel isolated due to lack of interest: Our mentors onsite will give one to one support.
All staff are CRB checked. We do rigorous risk assessments and follow safety instructions of all sites visited. Children and families are given labels with emergency contact details.
We report twice during the project through email updating them with the progress of the project. A final report with full details will be submitted.

Children of families from disadvantaged backgrounds living in LONDON.
The children with disadvantaged backgrounds such as: forced migrants, families on low income, single parent families, families with travel restrictions and others who do not have the means or opportunity to provide their children with a meaningful summer holiday.
At LCSS, we believe every child should have a chance to learn, develop & have fun during the summer holidays. During term time we run similar projects such as ‘Count-Art’, which helps youth counter extremist thoughts with art. Additionally, our The Big Lottery Fund promoted project ‘Raising Expectations’ helped young people aspire towards higher education. LCSS have been at the forefront in community project and have established & experienced staff to carry out these projects successfully.
