East Window Appeal
We do our best to maintain the integrity of the Victorian design of St. Peter's. Unfortunately, the passage of time means repairs are regularly needed.
Our east window will cost more than £45k to repair, a large sum of money for the congregation to raise. can you help?
Once the work begins, it should take four months
Charity information: St Peter's Church, Bengeworth
Our fine, Victorian east window is 'close to collapse'. Time, some movement of the foundations and wear and tear have caused cracks in places and the ties which hold the elements in place are beginning to fail.
One panel slipped and we removed it for safe keeping.
A specialist stained glass window firm will be employed. They will remove the main panels of the window and other areas in need of repair. The window will be boarded up while the repairs are made in the workshop.
Finally the panels will be returned to the church, so that the window can serve as the focal point of the church for many years to come.
Raising the necessary money to pay for the removal, repair and return of the window.
Activities» We have started holding fund raising events in church
» We held a raffle in the summer; have hosted two concerts and events with the congregation this Autumn.
» We will apply for grants from appropriate bodies
What success will look like
The window will be in situ, without cracks and fully secured.
The repairs will last for decades. The state of all the windows are assessed every five years.
If we do not raise the money we will have to wait for the repairs to take place. Potentially, other sections of the window will fail and need to be removed. The longer we wait the higher the cost will be.
A report on our progress will be kept updated on our website:

The church serves a large, and growing, suburban area. It stands at the junction of three main roads, leading to the River Avon and local villages.
It is on the edge of a conservation area and is a Grade II listed building, in Vidtorian gothic style.
The project will benefit all users of the building, which is open daily for visitors.
St. Peter's is the setting for baptisms, weddings and funerals. There are two services each Sunday and a week day service.
Two local schools have services in the church regularly. It is also used for concerts by local groups.
We have the responsibility for the building and its upkeep.
