Bring us back from the ashes

On the 18th March over five years of creative work produced by Global Grooves was burnt to a crisp. We are now reaching out to our global community to ask for support in raising funds to help replace these items. Every penny will help and be invested directly in to the replacement of this work.

The project will take at least 6 months to complete, assuming we can raise the funds.

  • Need

    Need

There was a huge fire at one of the studio spaces we were preparing our puppets and carnival items for the season. The mill has burnt down to the ground.

50 fire fighters worked all night to save the building and contents but unfortunately this was in vain.

Over 5 years of work has been burnt to a crisp and nothing was saved. Although all of this work is irreplaceable we urgently need to make new work to enable us to bounce back and continue to offer incredible creative opportunities.

    Solution

We are raising funds to replace these items with new acts and puppets. This will include the replacement or ‘V2’ of some of this work and in some instances entirely new pieces of work.

We will work with our team of artists, partners and volunteers and create a new large structure training programme to develop the skills of our artists and participants while at the same time replacing our items.

The programme will run as soon as we have the finance and resources in place to start work.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To replace our incredible illuminated and wandering puppets in time for this years season.

    Activities

» We will work with leading international artists to offer a training programme for our local network to replace and improve upon this work.

Once the new items have been made these will replace the old ones. Depending on the level of support we receive will inform the number of pieces we can replace from the last 5yrs.

    Aim 2

To replace our illuminated and static site decor.

    Activities

» We will work with leading international artists to offer a training programme for our local network to replace and improve upon this work.

Once the new items have been made these will replace the old ones. Depending on the level of support we receive will inform the number of pieces we can replace from the last 5yrs.

    Aim 3

To replace the equipment we had on site.

    Activities

» We will work with our partners and suppliers to replace the equipment lost in the fire that's needed to make our new work.

Once these items have been purchased this aim will be met.

  • Impact

    Impact

If we don't manage to replace this work our entire charity business model could be affected. We rely on earned income from our shows and puppets to subsidies work within communities locally and around the globe. The change this campaign will make will be imperative to the future of our Charity. Should we not manage to replace this work the number of beneficiaries our charity connects with will be greatly affected. If we can remake this work then we will be able to continue to change lives.

    Risk

If we can raise the resources there are minimal risks attached to this project. We have a skilled network of artists, makers and volunteers that are ready to get started on this project. There is however an urgency to get to work without delay so we can produce work in time for this years summer season and take advantage of earned income that could be generated. If we don't raise the resources quickly there is a risk because of the reduction of available earned income for our charitable work.

    Reporting

We will report back to donors on the completion of each piece of work with images of the newly created work. Donors are also welcome to volunteer on the projects to see first hand the difference their contribution is making.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

We have been creating high quality work for the last 15 years. All of our work has been created by us at our studio space. We are the only charity that can replace this work as the work that was distroyed by the fire was produced from scratch by us.

Our story

We are absolutely devastated to wake up to this news. Over 5 years of work has been lost and over a lifetimes worth of project development by the artists and teams that have put this work together. Now more than ever we need to the support of our friends and partners. We are still in shock.
