  • Need

    Need

Thousands of children and young people report being bullied every year and the detrimental impact bullying can have on a person should not be underestimated. At best, bullying causes great distress, which can continue right through adulthood. At worst, bullying can lead to self-harm & suicide.By increasing confidence levels & skill sets, young people will be able to speak out against bullying & empower, motivate & inspire others.

    Solution

By empowering young people, their confidence grows and they believe in themselves. By undertaking roles such as speaking to a range of audiences, supporting outreach delivery and contributing their views to influence, they grow and develop. Through the programme, we can engage young people in social action and help make a huge difference to their lives and the lives of others.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To Engage, Empower and Inspire young people to become Youth (anti-bullying) Ambassadors

    Activities

» Through training, skills based activities and mentoring we can engage young people in social action and help make a huge difference to their lives.

    What success will look like

The success will be demonstrated by the number of applications we receive, the retention of Youth Ambassadors and the confidence growth and skills they achieve.

  • Impact

    Impact

By providing education, training and awareness to young people, we are working hard to change minds, attitudes and behaviour for the long-term as well as enabling those currently affected by bullying to have the support they need. The changes we seek to bring about feed back into the wider community and take root there; growing and nourishing each future generation in order to reduce bullying and bullying behaviour and increase respect, tolerance and compassion.

    Risk

As a self-funding charity that doesn't receive government funding, the main risk will always be a financial one. We have recently secured some funding to assist with the project and will continue to apply for further funding as the grants become available. We also have a number of fundraising activities planned.

    Reporting

We will report to donors through bi-monthly newsletters, our social media pages and website. We would also like to hold an awards event to recognise the achievements of our Youth Ambassadors and donors would receive information about this.

  • Background

    Location

The project is open to young people in the UK. As we only have one office in Cardiff, the training sessions will be held in Cardiff but travel costs will be covered for the young people.

    Beneficiaries

We would like to recruit 40 young people to become Youth Ambassadors. Most Youth Ambassadors will have been directly affected by bullying in some way. Training sessions and the experience of being a Youth Ambassador can have a positive impact on the young person and following training, they will participate in anti-bullying activities in the wider community that will impact on at least 4000 other young people.
